Logic pro x control surface preferences free

By snorkybingo , September 4, in Logic Pro. I’m having problems setting up my Yamaha S90 ES keyboard to use as a control surface. I’ve also trashed the Logic 10 plist but that doesn’t get rid of them either.

There is nothing listed in the Control Surface Preferences. There is nothing listed in the Controller Assignments. How do I manually set up my S90ES as a control surface and delete the other ones that I made by mistake? I have exhausted all options in Logic X to add my keyboard as a Control Surface. Maybe if it’s not on the list then you can’t use it but the online help says different. I would appreciate any help,. Mac mini 2. Recording Light is an interface to a light that indicates you are recording, they have them in studios – you don’t need this.

What makes you think it is – have you seen something indicating this? Thanks Des, I used my S90ES in Logic 9, I could use it to start recording, stop recording, playback etc as well as channel adjustments. The keyboard works fine as I’ve been playing some software instruments with it via USB. Backspace won’t delete the unwanted control surfaces, also tried with shift, alt and cmd to no avail.

Right click and delete does not work either. The control surface icons have an exclamation mark in the top left corner. When I put them there by accident Logic tells you to set them up manually but how exactly? That’s different to a “Control Surface”, which has a very specific meaning. Your keyboard won’t work as a Control Surface, but you can use it via MIDI, and you can learn various Logic commands to it’s buttons and controls.

It does for me, here. Also check the manual for the Yamaha, to see whether it will work as an emulated control surface Mackie Control, HUI or similar, maybe..? I could previously use my S90ES as a control surface in Logic 9, the keyboard has a function called Remote specifically for that purpose and the sliders could be used to edit selected tracks as well as making other adjustments on those tracks. PS I can assign a keyboard button to Mute a selected track.

Not sure how to assign other functions as there’s no option for other functions. Ok, well nothing much has changed about this in LPX, so whatever you could do in LP9, you can still do. In the control surface setup window, click on a control surface icon you want to delete – it should now be selected. Pressing backspace now prompts to delete it. Mac mini 3. There are lots of other settings which I’ve had a go at. I’ve changed the name of the Device to Yamaha S90ES so it’s a start, doesn’t work yet as it’s still not seen anywhere else in LPX and not sure how to do that.

Quit Logic and delete the control surfaces preference file “com. This will get rid of anything you currently have in your CS Setup window. You may have your user Library folder hidden it is by default in recent versions of OSX.

You can unhide it by going to your home folder in the Finder, opening the View Options window Command-J , and checking the box for the Library folder. This won’t work, a Kontrol49 is a very different device to a Logic Control.

I’ve never seen this. You can clear out your controllers by deleting the prefs as Jordi describes above. Otherwise – what happens? You click on a control surface icon, and it should now be selected icon displayed in a blue rectangle. Do you get an error message? Nothing happens at all? Also had to delete my logic x prefs as my sustain pedal stopped working. I tried “reset all but key commands” but that didn’t fix it. When I tried to delete the other control surfaces nothing happened, I could not delete any of them.

Normally I would blame permissions in the cs prefs but there’s no permissions anymore, not after Mavericks so not sure about that. The reason I used Kontrol49 is because it’s the only one that looked like a keyboard. I got some functionality out of it by mapping Smart Controls to it but nothing like the remote function I used to get with Logic 9.

I’ve now created the Mackie MCU Logic Control as you suggested and had some bizarre behaviour before realising I’d put it on the same port as the keys. I’ve now changed the CS to Port 2 and set up the keyboard as Remote Port 2 and it’s working as a control surface.

That may remain a mystery and will probably fix itself with a future update. Could you post a screen capture of your Control Surface setup window featuring that pesky control surface? LogicPro Not checked if they have an update as it’s becoming an old keyboard now. Not sure what you call your “keyboard screen”.

If you mean the Musical Typing window? Then don’t worry about it at all, it just means you’ve selected an audio tracks and therefore you can’t really “play” the track with a MIDI keyboard.

Or do you mean the actual LCD screen on your physical keyboard? Create a new empty project, 1 software instrument track, choose a piano patch, play your keyboard: can you hear the piano? My new Logic Pro Book is out! You can post now and register later.

Posted September 4, I would appreciate any help, Thanks. Logic Pro X [
 More sharing options Eric Cardenas Posted September 4, You can disable automatic assignment stuff there if your controllers are supported.

Click on one of the control surfaces to select it. Press your backspace key to delete it. Recording Light is an interface to a light that indicates you are recording, they have them in studios – you don’t need this Rebuild Defaults is not linked to any issue you are having, ignore it for now. What are you trying to do, specifically? Are you on I still can’t delete them.

Thanks for your help! I could previously use my S90ES as a control surface in Logic 9, the keyboard has a function called Remote specifically for that purpose and the sliders could be used to edit selected tracks as well as making other adjustements on those tracks.

Jordi Torres Posted September 4, Thanks to you too Jordi! Still can’t delete anything in the Control Surfaces Setup page, must be a bug. Jordi Torres Posted September 5, Posted September 5, Atlas Posted September 8, Posted September 8, Did you update your driver? Sometimes conflict could occur when the same device is used in both Logic’s versions.
